exozet is currently working on VFX for the Universal Pictures feature film “Tauben auf dem Dach”. The comedy starring Katja Riemann and Olli Dittrich opens in cinemas on October 21, 2010. Most recently, exozet worked on the major Sat.1 film “Im Spessart sind die Geister los”, which aired in February of this year. As the post-production company, exozet was tasked with turning the real actors into “real” ghosts and enchanting their surroundings as well. Elaborate 3D particles made it possible for the manifested ghosts to reach through tables and walk through walls. exozet used the XSens motion-capture system for the digital ghost doubles.
Before that, exozet attracted attention with the Bremen Town Musicians. For this project (see also DP 01:10), the company’s own XFace system was used for talking animals in more than 200 completed shots.
The company was founded by Frank Alexander Zahn in 1996 and now employs 150 people. In addition to its Babelsberg location, it has further sites in Berlin and Vienna. The exozet group is divided into three units: exozet interact – agency for digital communication; exozet effects – studio for visual effects; and exozet games – game development studio.
