Similar to Autodesk, for example, Adobe now offers "subscriptions" for its software. This allows users to rent an entire suite or individual programs from it by the month, or subscribe for a year.
The advantage is, firstly, when certain applications are needed only briefly and the period is not covered by the trial versins, or when a studio wants to cover software licences as running costs rather than one-off purchases; in addition, this always provides the latest version.
The exact price list can be seen below, but as an example: Photoshop costs 700 US dollars, but only 35 dollars per month on an annual subscription and 45 on a monthly subscription.
