It is not yet clear when the production plants can be put back into operation, because the center of the flood disaster is the industrial area of Ayutthaya, where Canon, Nikon and Sony maintain an important part of their camera and printer production.
Nikon is said to manufacture around 60% of its SLR cameras and 90% of its lenses there. At Sony, the NEX and SLT cameras are affected, and Canon is now considering moving production of inkjet printers to another plant in Thailand as well as to Vietnam.
Nevertheless, Canon is expected to launch the new high-end 1Dx model soon:
