Jim Jannard, the founder of RED Digital Cinema, accused ARRI employee Michael Bravin in December of having read RED emails by allegedly hacking the account of his former employer Band Pro. Several points of contention have now been added to this accusation; ARRI is said to have spread false information and spun further intrigues.
The latest accusations make it clear that ARRI must increasingly be a thorn in the side of the RED company. In addition to email espionage, Jannard also accuses Bravin of having advertised the ARRI Alexa under a pseudonym in the Reduser.net forum. In addition, false statements about the capabilities of the Alexa are said to have been spread on the ARRI website.
Conspiracy theorists are likely to prick up their ears at these accusations: ARRI technicians are said to have deliberately replaced cables incorrectly during the shooting of "Hansel and Gretel: The Witch Hunters", leading to problems with the RED cameras being used, so that they switched to the Alexa while shooting was still underway.
