For customers who already own the After Effects plug-in, the update is free. According to Andrew Kramer’s blog, update 1.5 is said to include several impressive features, improvements and bug fixes. The most important new feature is said to be the Real-Time Glow Engine, which makes it possible to add glow directly to illuminated material or even to image highlights.

According to Kramer, V1.5 is extremely fast and offers more realistic results than After Effects’ standard glow plug-in. Update 1.5 is also said to bring an anchor-point control system and an impressive improvement to the workflow.

This update will not yet include the 3D shadows feature, which can be used to create OpenGL shadows. However, according to Video Copilot’s plan, this is to be the top feature in release 2.0. You can find more information about Element 3D V1.5 here.

The new 3D building pack "Metropolitan" is also due to be available from tomorrow, January 22. According to Kramer, this 3D pack contains more than 100 3D buildings and special Reflection Maps for city shots. More information about the 3D Building Pack "Metropolitan" is available here.
