Almost five weeks before the event begins, Europe’s most influential digital entertainment conference is presenting the first preview of its daily programme, packed with well-known names and high-calibre presentations. Overarching everything are the conference motto "lean, smart and agile" and the paradigm shift currently transforming the industry.
Against the background of the current VFX crisis, Digital Domain CEO Ed Ulbrich and Visual Effects Society Executive Director Eric Roth will discuss how the industry can move forward. New financing models such as crowdfunding are a focus at FMX 2013, as are "World Building" and "Transmedia Experiences", which include a presentation by children’s author Cornelia Funke and Andy Merkin about the app for the MirrorWorld novel series.
Alongside Oscar winners such as "Life of Pi" and "Brave", Guillermo del Toro’s eagerly awaited sci-fi action film "Pacific Rim", the latest 007 film "Skyfall" and the zombie romance "Warm Bodies", indie games and hit games such as "Crysis 3" and "Tomb Raider" also serve as case studies for presentations. Things become particularly technical in the "SIGGRAPH Papers" and the "Cloud Computing", "Cloud Gaming", "Open Source" and "3D Printing" series.
