One of the new features is Live Clay with dynamic tessellation sculpting tools, in which users can specify the required levels of detail. The user interface has also been revised, and the tool is now intended to be seven times faster under Windows.

According to Pilgway, the texture-baking functions have also received a major update, and a Spline Drawing Mode has been added. Scripting is now intended to be possible with the C++-like Angelscript. Special tools for product and prototype modelling, along with a dozen new tools and options, expand the 3D-Coat version 4 toolset.

3D-Coat is compatible with Windows, Linux and Mac OSX. Anyone who does not yet own 3D-Coat can purchase a full version for 349 dollars, while an update to version 4 is available for 84 dollars. A student version is available for 99 dollars. This special price offer ends on July 1.
