Autodesk Remote can be installed on the iPad or other PCs, allowing the installed tools on the primary computer to be controlled from external devices. Remote is free for Autodesk subscription customers.
This allows the main computer to be left running and the current work in Autodesk software to be presented and modified, for example from an iPad or a computer at another location. The source model is edited directly.
Rented or purchased software therefore no longer has to be installed on different computers. Although the technology is not new, according to Autodesk Remote has been optimally adapted in terms of speed, so that editing can take place almost in real time and the user has the feeling that the model is actually on the external device.
Autodesk Remote is compatible with Windows 7 and 8; no Mac version is currently available. The Remote iPad app is optimized for Autodesk’s Inventor 3D CAD software. In addition, Remote is not limited only to Autodesk software; comparable tools on the desktop are also intended to be controllable with it during a remote session.
