The application is being developed by Holotech Studios from Bucharest, Romania, while the associated software comes from the Swedish company Visage Technologies. The project is currently in the crowdfunding phase on Indiegogo. It has already reached its funding goal, but anyone who wants access to a beta version and to acquire a license for the finished application in advance should contribute a donation of five US dollars. FaceRig is still at an early stage of development; the development team is currently concentrating on portrait animation of the characters. Voice variations, a karaoke mode and the integration of props are also to be added.
Holotech Studios is an indie software company founded by five professionals from the game development industry. So, who would not like to create a digital alter ego for the next Skype conference when they are not having their best, most presentable webcam day?
