The Polish festival Animator 2014 is already taking place for the seventh time, in Poznań. From July 11 to 17, the location will be all about animation, with a broad program surrounding it—workshops, film premieres, exhibitions and concerts.

The focus is on animation (art), and that does not necessarily always mean CG. Many may still remember the many children’s films from the former Soviet Union in the 1980s, where a lot of clay stop-motion was used. Comic and clay animation workshops are therefore also offered. The program for 2014 is already available for download.

Entries in the competition are honored in the following categories:

For the Grand Prix, the prizewinner receives either the main prize, the Golden Pegasus, as well as the equivalent of around 10,000 euros. Second place is rewarded with the Silver Pegasus and around 6,000 euros in prize money. The third-place winner can still take home the Bronze Pegasus and around 3,500 euros.

In addition, two special pries are awarded, one for film music (around 2,300 euros) and one for the feature film, which is again endowed with around 10,000 euros.

The submission deadline for competition entries is March 3; here is the registration form.

The festival program includes retrospectives and showcases as well as current films such as the screening of the Oscar-nominated animated film "Ernest & Celestine", which was entered in the Animated Feature Film category.
