The game was developed by Filmakademie graduates Sebastian Mittag and Mareike Ottrand, who, after completing their studies in "Interactive Media and Motion Design", became self-employed together with their partner Alexander Pieper from Ravensburg-Weingarten University and founded Studio Fizbin in Ludwigsburg.

The German Computer Game Award has been presented since 2009 by the industry associations BIU and G.A.M.E. in cooperation with the German federal government. This year, the jury selected three finalists for each of the seven game categories from a total of 140 submissions. In the "Best German Game" category, The Inner World is competing for the award worth 50,000 euros alongside the internationally successful game hit "Crysis 3" from Crytek and "Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams – Rise of the Owlverlord" from Black Forrest Games (more on this in DP issue 04/14, which appears on May 23).

The awards ceremony takes place in Munich on May 15. "The Inner World" was already nominated for "Best Newcomer Concept" at the German Computer Game Award in 2011 and also received the German Developer Award as "Best Family Game" at the end of 2013.

The "Interactive Media" study specialization at the Institute of Animation, Visual Effects and Digital Postproduction at the Filmakademie trains transmedia/games artists, transmedia/games directors and transmedia/games producers. During their training, students develop and produce transmedia material and innovative formats in teams spanning departments and universities. Graduates establish their own transmedia studios, work in the games industry, the Web 2.0 business, film and TV productions, or agencies.

You can learn more about the Interactive Media course at FMX, Conference on Animation, Effects, Games and Transmedia, taking place in Stuttgart from April 22 to 25. Applications for the coming academic year 2014/15 are still possible until May 05, 2014.
