HP announced HP Remote Graphics Software (RGS) 7.01, which makes collaborative, software-based work on a project in real time easier. It is said to be possible to operate workstations remotely from a Windows 8 tablet. The HP Z Turbo Drive also prevents storage bottlenecks that can arise when creating large files.
According to HP, HP RGS 7.0 allows special keys to be called up by swiping across the display, gesture control enables commands to be entered without a keyboard, and simply pressing the screen activates zoom. An on-screen mouse allows the entire screen to be used as a trackpad.
HP Z Turbo Drive is the first cost-effective PCIe-based SSD (Solid State Drive) for desktop workstations. It gives users access to up to twice the performance of the current standard SATA SSD, at a comparable price. HP Z Turbo drives reduce boot time and response time for calculations and graphics (even with 4K videos), thereby simplifying the management of large files.
HP Remote Graphics Software 7.0 is expected to be available on all HP Z Workstations from the end of May 2014. HP customers can download the software free of charge. From May, it will be offered for purchase for other hardware.
HP Z Turbo Drive will also be available from May. HP gives the price as starting at 675 euros plus VAT. The drive is available in two sizes, 256 GB and 512 GB.
