The reality is that a studio like Pixar receives so many demo reels every day that it switches straight to the next one if it fails to convince in the first few seconds. That is why it is important, among other things, to impress with your work samples right at the beginning. It should not be too long either, and does not necessarily need to contain all the work from recent years, but should string together highlights briefly and concisely.
In addition, the selection of scenes should be tailored to the job for which you are applying. You can also include scenes from personal projects, which show the artist’s personality better than commissioned work.
