The submitted work should represent Houdini’s procedural world as well as possible and inspire other artists to create further work with Houdini and its node-based workflow. The design should also harmonise well with the Houdini logo; the appropriate logos are available to download on the competition page. Very important: no tools other than Houdini and Mantra may have been used for the image.
This year’s deadline is November 2. The first-prize winner will receive a Houdini FX licence and a one-year licence for the cmiVFX site. The second prize wins a basic Houdini licence and three cmiVFX lessons of their choice, while the third-placed entrant receives a Houdini Indie licence for one year and two cmi-VFX lessons of their choice. As a consolation prize, there are at least Houdini T-shirts.
All further requirements and information about the Houdini 14 Splash Contest can be found here.

In one of the upcoming DP issues, you will find an article about fluid simulation with Houdini. Phill Mayer also prefers to use the Side Effects tool for his work.
