In addition to DCP hard-drive delivery, the DCP download option is also offered via the in-house SHARC distribution system. Using the SHARC download client, cinema operators receive their DCPs directly through their own broadband connection, with control over ongoing downloads. The offering is currently aimed at selected cinemas in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, but is intended to be gradually extended to all cinema operators. The option is offered as an alternative to hard-drive distribution.
The SHARC portal benefits from CinePostproduction’s partnership with Aspera, an IBM company that is one of the leading experts in high-speed data transfer. Aspera FASP transmission technology is intended to enable robust, secure and efficient transmission of large amounts of data with encrypted transfer.
