The Trends in the Explainer-Video Scene

Cut-out animation videos are out; too many companies have already commissioned them. Here is an overview of which videos agencies may soon be requesting from studios.

The hipster wave has also brought back the vintage-retro look. It is already a classic in explainer-video design, but impossible to kill off. Hand-drawn lettering or old retro motifs from the turn of the century through the 1950s, 1960s, or 1980s are currently popular.

The collage style is another trend that is currently going down well. Illustrations, photos, lettering, stop-motion, and computer animation are mixed together:

Women love watercolours and aquarelles. Presumably for this reason, videos with a watercolour look are increasingly in demand in the fashion and emotions sector.

Papercraft videos are also being requested increasingly often. The crafted paper-artwork look presumably corresponds to the current do-it-yourself trend.

The famous phrase "Keep it Simple" is the standard for the "Flat Design" trend. They are striking and appealing at the same time.
