For the 2015/16 academic year, the Institute of Animation, Visual Effects and Digital Postproduction at Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg is currently accepting applications for all study specialisations. Applications for the foundation course in the "Animation and Interactive Media" study areas offered at the institute are possible until February 15, while the deadline for lateral entry into the project study programme for all specialisations in these study areas is May 15.
Direct entry into the third year of study (the project study programme) is aimed at applicants with professional experience or a completed degree, while the general higher-education entrance qualification and practical experience are required for the foundation course.
Study Specialisations
The Animationsinstitut’s study areas, Animation and Interactive Media, are divided into different specialisations, which students choose by the third year of study at the latest. For the Animation area, these are the specialisations: Concept Artist, Animation/Effects Director (artistic direction), Character Animator, Effects Artist, as well as Animation/Effects Producer (production with a focus on animation and visual effects), and Technical Director (combines prior technical knowledge with artistic work).
In parallel, the Interactive Media study area offers the specialisations Transmedia/Games Director, Transmedia/Games Artist and Transmedia/Games Producer. The Animation/Effects Producer (AEP) and Technical Director (TD) study specialisations differ from the other specialisations in that they are specifically aimed at graduates of relevant degree programmes and are designed exclusively as lateral entry into the project study programme. TD is aimed primarily at computer-science graduates, while AEP applicants must bring professional experience in production or have successfully completed a corresponding degree in media.
