Animation/Effects Producing
The most important thing first: Interested parties can find detailed information on the Animationsinstitut website (www. animationsinstitut.de). Potential applicants can also contact the programme management of the Animationsinstitut directly at producer@animationsinstitut.de and ask their questions. The AEP programme has been headed by producer Lilian Klages since summer 2014.
What is the AEP programme?
Animation/Effects Producing (AEP) is a two-year postgraduate production programme specialising in animation and VFX projects at the Animationsinstitut of Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg.
Who can apply?
Applicants should have a degree or practical experience in business administration, media, design or communication and possess organisational and communication skills. Ideally, applicants have already gained initial professional experience in production. The AEP programme at the Animationsinstitut allows students to enter the project studies directly with a focus on animation.
What are project studies?
Unlike the foundational studies, in which all Filmakademie students first learn the basics of filmmaking together, the project studies focus on practical work on animation and visual-effects projects. The prospective animation and effects producers therefore take responsibility for their teams from the outset and bring various projects to success as part of their studies. In addition to this practical training, the curriculum includes special events and workshops on production-related topics such as budgeting, scheduling, project management and team building.
Tuition Fees
There are no tuition fees for studying at Filmakademie.
Technical Directing Programme
Anyone who wants to know exactly what a technical director does can read about it using Timm Wagener’s “OpenColorIO Nodes in Houdini” project as an example in the upcoming DP issue, which will be published on July 10. But all further information about the programme is also available here.
Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg is still accepting applications for both programmes for the 2015/16 academic year until August 15, 2015.
Incidentally, you can find the detailed making-of for the Filmakademie hamster project “Skål” by Marco Hakenjos in DP 02 : 2015.
