Area of Responsibility
As an employee of the IT Service service unit, you will design and implement the laboratories for the Animation, AV Application Design, Scenography and VFX departments. In an exciting teaching and research environment, you will support the existing network and develop pipeline solutions for production operations. You will be responsible for procuring, commissioning, maintaining and, where applicable, troubleshooting Linux, Windows and Macintosh systems. You will develop elegant backend solutions and tools in a goal-oriented manner to accelerate workflows and transfer them into regular operation. These include:
- Design and further development of the existing infrastructure in close cooperation with the above-mentioned departments
- Configuration and maintenance of CGI systems and workstations
- Optimization and documentation of pipeline processes and, when needed, direct support for students and teaching staff
- Planning and provision of interfaces to other production and research areas of the Film University
- Maintenance and further development of the render pipeline
- Design and implementation of server and storage systems
Employment Requirements
We expect a completed degree in an area relevant to the task or comparable technical training. As a problem solver, you have communication skills and are able to develop new ideas and solutions. You work both independently and as part of a team.
Proficient knowledge, preferably in film production, with experience of common interfaces, scripting and/or programming of any kind is important. This includes:
- A good understanding of Python, MEL, Qt, PySide, HTML / Javascript, Git
- Knowledge in developing tools, e.g. for Maya, Arnold, is an advantage, as is knowledge of MatLab and audio environments such as Asio or Jack
- Experience with GNU / Linux RPM-based distributions
- Very good written and spoken English
In addition, you are familiar with the latest developments in server hardware and already have experience with common network protocols such as Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, NFS, CIFS / Samba and PXE.
