According to the firmware description, recording time for 4K films is extended by around 20 percent—provided you use the vertical grip (VG-C2EM) and activate ASP-C/Super35mm mode. The time limit of 29:59 minutes remains. However, you can immediately continue filming afterwards, for a total of at least three hours. According to Sony, image quality has also been improved by simplifying the correction of chromatic aberrations.
