The Foundry has released a free update for Modo 901 owners—with new features that certainly justify the jump in number from 901 to 902.
Camera matching
A new camera matcher for position, rotation, focal length and resolution (As well as approximate lens distortion) is introduced with a few strokes in the image and one-click setups.
Image projection
The Projection Texture projects an image into a selectable Texture Channel, after which the Projection Shader performs a pixel-perfect projection of the image—regardless of the Lighting and Shading of the Scene.
Camera Plane Modifier
Image Planes can now be created with just one click—and Modo 902 attempts to adjust position, size and rotation to the image-frame size while you define the depth.
Physical Sun
Using the image’s metadata—orientation, geographical position and time of day—you can adjust the sun to match reality in Modo 902 with a few clicks. Virtual assets and physical photos can thus have identical, correct cast shadows simply and quickly.
