Until now, owners of Edius versions 2 to 6.5 still had to purchase a full version of Edius 8 for 589 euros; an upgrade to the latest version of the editing program was reserved for users of version 7. The Jump Upgrade offer is limited to February 1 through April 30. During this period, users of older Edius versions 2–6.5 and Neo 1–3.5 receive a reduced upgrade price of 399 euros, a discount of around 30 percent.
Particularly in view of the fact that the older versions eligible for the upgrade are still based on 32-bit technology and do not support Windows 10, developer Grass Valley recommends an upgrade to Edius Pro 8. In addition, the upgrade gives buyers not only new functions, higher performance on the timeline and during export, and support for new codecs and formats. The purchase price already includes all future updates to Edius Pro 8.x until the middle of next year. A motion tracker and Raw and LUT support will soon be integrated into Edius Pro 8, free of charge for Edius Pro 8 customers. The same applies to support provided by telephone and remote maintenance, which is no longer free for users of older versions.
Since Grass Valley is discontinuing the Edius Neo series, the limited Jump Upgrade has also been opened to Neo customers.
