Both the CS2420 and the CG2420 use wide-gamut LCD modules (IPS) with a 16:10 aspect ratio that cover 99 percent of the AdobeRGB colour space. For maximum colour accuracy and depth, and to avoid display errors such as banding or tonal breaks, both ColorEdge monitors work with a 16-bit look-up table (LUT).
New housing
The two new monitors have a slimmer housing; the bezel is 39 percent narrower than on predecessor devices. Illuminated sensor buttons for operating the monitor functions are also new.
Ports
Both ColorEdge monitors have DVI-D, HDMI and Display Port inputs. A USB 3 hub with three upstream and two downstream ports is also included. Eizo ColorNavigator calibration software is included. A shading hood is also included with the CG2420 and is optionally available for the CS2420.
CG2420 for demanding colour grading
Compared with the CS2420 model, the ColorEdge CG2420 Eizo monitor is equipped with a built-in calibration sensor and a supplied shading hood. This is matched to each individual screen, and automatic calibration saves a lot of time. It has a 3D LUT that is intended to transfer calibration extremely precisely to every individual hue.
According to Eizo, the monitor covers 98 percent of the DCI-P3 colour space, and the CG2420’s True Black LCD panel is intended to guarantee an excellent contrast ratio and rich blacks even in low lighting and at an oblique viewing angle. The CG2420 is compatible with ColorNavigator NX and Network software and can thus be integrated into larger colour-management workflows.
Price
CG2420 is available for 1,426 euros, while the entry-level CS2420 model costs 699 euros. The two monitors will be available from specialist retailers from mid-April.
