What Can It Do?
When you first open the Custom Tool in Fusion, nothing happens at first. This is because you use it to build your own effects. Simon Ubsdell shows how you can use a few mathematical formulas to create complex key effects quickly and easily. For CG artists who are already proficient at scripting, the Custom Tool should be a great relief. Accordingly, this tutorial also helps you better understand the individual RGB channels and how they work. The Custom Tool is therefore a simpler and less click-intensive alternative to Channel Booleans. Finally, it should be said that the tutorial was created in Fusion 9. For Fusion 8 or older versions, one formula differs. Simon Ubsdell has, however, named this in the video caption and provided a corresponding one.
