From a total of 759 applicants, 32 cultural and creative industries companies were selected that stand out through their innovative ideas and inspiring entrepreneurial personalities. The ninth class of Kultur- und Kreativpiloten Deutschland was announced in Berlin on 12 November. Among them is monströös, an international production company in Berlin specialising in 2D animation.
The team of animation directors and a composer and sound designer met at Film University Babelsberg and founded the studio together after completing their studies. Alongside their own films, they also produce commissioned work such as music videos, art installations or animation for documentary and feature films. They create moving images, in both senses, that appeal to people of different ages and want to give animation a greater presence as a form of expression in Germany. They rely on strong characters and relevant topics brought to life with poetic and humorous animation and a strong graphic signature.
The award
The award is run by the u-institut für unternehmerisches Denken und Handeln e.V. It is supported by the German Federal Government’s Cultural and Creative Industries Initiative, a project of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media.
Every year, people are honoured who demonstrate courage, show commitment and always ask themselves: What can I do even better? The programme is aimed at companies, self-employed people, founders and projects from the cultural and creative industries and their interfaces with other sectors. A specialist jury with experts from business, culture and politics selects the title holders.
The selected Kultur- und Kreativpiloten take part in a one-year mentoring programme with workshops, coaching and peer learning in the network.
