Tool Chefs has made several of its rigging and animation tools available as open-source versions for Maya. Until now, the company has been known primarily for the crowd-simulation tool Atoms Crowd.
The open-source tools
The following Maya tools can currently be found in the GitHub repository. By the way, you can find an overview of the complete Tool Chefs selection here.
- SoftIkSolver—a Maya IK solver for a 2-bone setup.
- harmonicDeformer, a freeform deformer based on this Pixar paper
- KeyReducer a Python plug-in for simplifying animation curves.
- Kiko —pipeline tool for transferring animation curves between DCC tools
Availability
All extensions are available free under the LGPL license. To download them, you must download the respective tool here on Github.
