Magix has released the new version of the Vegas Pro NLE. With 30 new features in total, the tool includes not only a new interface but also many new functions. Here are the highlights at a glance:
Vegas Pro 17 feature highlights
As in competing software, the developers have now finally introduced Nested Timelines to simplify the editing workflow. It also makes it possible to create subprojects that can be edited by other members while the main edit remains with the respective editor. You can find details in this video.
A new Color Grading window is intended from now on to separate the different workflows more effectively and make them clearer. The color-editing steps, such as Input LUT, Color Wheels, Color Curves, HSL, White Balance and more, are housed in the new area. Thanks to support for the ACES 1.1 standard, videos up to 8K can now be edited in HLG HDR with HDR Video Scopes. All color effects can be saved as a CUBE file using the Save LUT button in the plug-in selection window.
With new optical-flow technology, it should now be possible to subsequently create much better slow-motion footage. New editing possibilities continue with new Warp Flow transitions, as well as Mesh Warp functions. Many plug-ins are also added, including Boris FX Continuum Lens Flare 3D, 3D Objects and more.

Availability and price
The many offers may seem somewhat confusing. The standard version Vegas Pro 17 Edit currently costs €399, the Suite version with all features €799, or as a monthly subscription for ~€12. You can find a version comparison here.
