MFG Baden-Württemberg introduced revised funding rules on 1 July 2020. Managing director Carl Bergengruen said the changes strengthened story development and extended support previously limited to fiction projects to documentary treatments.
Documentary development could receive up to €15,000, rising to €25,000 for particularly complex projects. The application conditions for fiction screenplays were simplified and their maximum grant increased to €50,000.
MFG’s participation share rose from 50 to 75 percent for fiction and documentary development. Production-preparation funding, previously restricted to fiction, was also opened to documentary projects, with applications of up to €75,000 possible at the time.
