Tracking while recording

FXhome’s CamTrackAR iOS app records 3D camera-tracking data alongside video footage. The resulting camera and clip data can be exported for Blender, HitFilm or After Effects.

The workflow aligns a floor grid with the ground plane in the camera view, then places anchor points to stabilise the solve. Camera movement and footage are captured in real time. Blender and HitFilm export was free, while the paid edition added After Effects export and multiple anchors.

ARKit requirements

CamTrackAR was built on Apple’s ARKit and required iOS 13.2 or later. A TrueDepth camera was not required. The App Store listing identified supported devices.

At publication, paid access cost US$29.99 once or US$4.99 per month; current terms may differ. Test lens calibration, scale, drift and coordinate conversion against a measured set before production use.
