German Film Academy Establishes Animation Film Section

The German Film Academy created a dedicated Animation Film section to recognise and support German animated feature filmmaking.

Animation Film Section

At its November meeting, the board of the German Film Academy decided to establish a dedicated Animation Film section. Statements accompanying the announcement welcomed the move.

Dirk Beinhold, producer of the Raven the Little Rascal film series, praised the Academy’s open and collegial exchange, now extended to animation. Gabriele Walther, producer of the Ritter Rost series, also welcomed the development, describing the new section as recognition of the work contributed by everyone involved in German animated feature films.

Ralf Kukula of Balance Film and Emely Christiansen of Ulysses Filmproduktion likewise expressed support for the new Animation Film section.
