Early Access
Nekki released an early-access version of Cascadeur after roughly two years of beta development. The animation software combined keyframe tools with physics-assisted posing and motion correction, aiming to help artists create believable character movement without requiring a full simulation workflow. Digital Production previously covered the open beta in 2020.
AutoPhysics and AutoPosing
The product demonstration introduced AutoPhysics alongside an improved AutoPosing system. AutoPosing assisted with character placement, while AutoPhysics adjusted motion with the aim of producing more physically plausible results. These systems supported the animator rather than replacing manual keyframe decisions.
Roadmap
Nekki’s historical roadmap listed looped animation support, expanded custom rigging and Python scripting. The proposed scripting support was intended to simplify rig creation and automate animation tasks. Roadmaps change, so consult the current Cascadeur website for implemented features and supported platforms.
Licensing
At launch, a Basic edition was available free to hobbyists, freelancers and smaller companies, with Pro and Business editions aimed at larger organisations. Those 2021 terms are historical. Check current licensing and test rig import, animation export and physics-assisted edits before committing a production.
