FMX 2021
Ahead of the online conference opening on 4 May, FMX announced two further programme highlights.
Digital humans
The first strand, Giving Digital Humans a Voice, brought together talks and panels on hybrids of computer graphics and artificial intelligence, their credibility, and advances in machine learning.
The sessions asked how AI could support creative industries and which new production applications were emerging. Topics included traditional high-end CG pipelines, self-learning systems and advanced voice synthesis. Announced speakers included Colin Urquhart on face cloning for AAA games, Hao Li on deepfakes and Alex Serdiuk on AI voice cloning.
Visual effects for commercials
A second highlight featured Goodbye Kansas artists discussing the studio’s commercial for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, produced during the global pandemic. Speakers included director Emnet Mulugeta, executive producer Jan Cafourek, producer Rebeca Cervantes and CG supervisor Alexis Andersson.
