Project Dogwaffle made Howler 2020 available free of charge.
Although digital painting is the application’s central focus, Howler 2020 also includes tools for animation, video processing, terrain generation, rotoscoping and related image-making workflows.
Later releases expanded the package with larger brushes, custom brush controls, a tablet-friendly interface and multi-monitor support. Users who did not need those newer features could continue using the free 2020 edition.
