The Festival of Animation Berlin (FAB) presented animated work for film, series and virtual reality from 1 to 3 October 2021.
186 projects from 39 countries
The programme included 186 projects from 39 countries. Screenings took place at City Kino Wedding, the Centre Français de Berlin and the Russian House of Science and Culture, while the competitions were also presented online.
Five competition categories covered national and international work, including a Russia special, as well as new talent, commissioned animation and animated series.
Masterclasses and workshops
The professional programme included masterclasses, talks, webinars and workshops. Julia Ocker, recognised for Animanimals, offered production insight, while practical sessions covered stop-motion animation and puppet construction. The free webinars ran from 27 to 30 September, with workshop registration open until 26 September.
Hungarian animation director Luca Tóth created the 2021 festival trailer and led a character-design workshop. Austrian writer Stefanie Sargnagel was among the other guests.
