In brief: Pixologic released ZBrush 2022 with changes intended to make the sculpting application more approachable.

Features: New bas-relief tools created raised sections resembling traditional relief sculpture. The Bevel Pro plugin generated complex bevels on meshes at different resolutions without requiring a separate low-poly modelling stage. Brushes gained support for two alphas and two textures, with pen pressure controlling the transition between them.

The release could distribute multiple SubTools, or multiple pieces of geometry inside one SubTool, with a single command. Knife brushes added circle and rectangle stroke types. Stroke Interpolation could use ZIntensity, brush size, RGB intensity and front and back colours to interpolate across a defined number of steps.

ZBrush 2022 also integrated access to XMD Toolbox after installation, allowing users to browse ZBrush assets and obtain additional brushes, alphas, textures and materials.

Pixologic documented the release on its features page.
