For those who don’t know the tool: Moho is Lost Marble’s standalone 2D animation application, combining vector drawing, bone rigging and keyframe animation. Artists can create characters inside the application or bring in artwork, then rig, animate and export it. Version 14.5 adds live performance and streaming to that drawing-and-rigging workflow, so the puppet can leave the timeline and join the audience. Sensible behaviour remains the puppeteer’s responsibility.
The previous Moho 14.4 update connected 2D rigs to game-engine workflows through glTF/GLB export. Showtime turns towards live input while extending drawing and delivery tools. The same character can therefore sit within a broader production workflow, rather than existing solely for its next webcam appearance.

Live characters, real nerves
Moho 14.5 Showtime brings live character control to Lost Marble’s 2D animation application. A webcam can drive facial actions and Smart Bones, while a gamepad provides button and thumbstick input. The new Moho Virtual Webcam can feed meetings and broadcasts, including workflows with OBS. Your character can now join the meeting while you operate the face behind the face. All those hours spent rigging eyebrows finally have somewhere to go.

Performance is still editable
Live Playback can save keyframes and audio onto Moho’s timeline, so a live performance can become material for further editing. Multiple characters can be animated together, or individual layers recorded as separate passes. A good take with one overenthusiastic eyebrow need not be the end of the conversation. Moho Pro 14.5 can create and stream live character models; Moho Debut 14.5 can open and stream existing models. Pick the edition according to whether you want to build the performer or give an existing one its moment.

Less fighting with vectors
The update changes the Freehand tool’s pen tracking, point reduction, smoothing and corner handling. The rebuilt Paint Bucket offers additional filling controls, the Blob Brush has been improved, and brush categories organise presets.
Magnetic Onion Skins and Shift & Trace help inspect and reposition adjacent poses, while Liquid Shapes gain options for hidden edges, stroke-only shapes and Stroke Exposure. There is plenty here for the quieter part of animation: drawing a line, looking at it, and politely asking it to be a slightly different line.

Tracking, speed and delivery
Lost Marble reports improved video tracking, including face-tracking workflows, faster handling of reference-layer-heavy scenes, smaller saved files in some cases, and quicker Undo/Redo. For the hand-off to postproduction, the export options cover MP4/H.264 for browsers and social platforms; PNG sequences with sRGB, Display P3 or no profile; and EXR import/export with 16-bit half-float and 32-bit float options. EXR colour-space choices include linear Rec.709, linear P3-D65, linear Rec.2020, sRGB and ACEScg.

Compression options include ZIP, PIZ, PXR24 and B44. The Batch Exporter retains completed items with job status, and frame rates accept three decimal places such as 23.976. SVG export also improves variable-width strokes and Liquid Shapes. The character gets the applause; the EXR settings get the shot through the pipeline. Both deserve a little affection.
