Audiotrak introduced the Prodigy 192 PCI audio card for demanding multichannel applications on Windows PCs.

It provided two analogue inputs, six analogue outputs, 24-bit/96 kHz A/D conversion, 24-bit/192 kHz D/A conversion, and optical and coaxial 24-bit/96 kHz outputs. The stated dynamic range was 100 dB at the inputs and 104 dB at the outputs. A multimedia microphone input and headphone amplifier were included.

An optional MI/ODI/O card added optical and coaxial digital inputs, a coaxial output and one-in/one-out MIDI. Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 support enabled DVD surround playback.

DirectWIRE and drivers

DirectWIRE, part of Audiotrak’s E-WDM driver system, routed audio between applications without external cables. Drivers supported Windows XP, 2000, ME and 98SE and applications including Nuendo, Cubase, GigaStudio, Cakewalk, Sonar and Logic Audio.

The announced prices were €225 for the card and €65 for the expansion. The product belongs to the archive’s audio interface coverage.
