Avid Technology and Sony Broadcast & Professional Europe presented new products intended to lower the cost of high-end television production.

The Avid DS HD editor, priced below €100,000, and the Sony HDW-750P camcorder, priced at €75,000, were demonstrated to German broadcast and post-production customers at the Experience Avid Naked event in Berlin in May 2002.

Jeff Stewart, Avid’s European Product Marketing Director, said DS HD combined standard-definition and high-definition editing in one system and was intended to make HD production economically practical.

Current professional-camera information is available from Sony. The demonstration forms part of the broadcast and HD-editing archive.
