Blue Order introduced Media Workbench 2.2 with a redesigned interface and functions for storing, organising and retrieving media objects.
The system targeted local and geographically distributed groups managing video, audio, illustrations and presentations. User-specific hierarchical folder structures grouped assets according to freely defined criteria and could represent projects, workflow stages or processing status.
Import and automation
A drag-and-drop interface imported and exported Word, Excel, PDF, MP3 and MPEG files over FTP. Administrators could define watch folders for automatic ingest. When a recorded video appeared, Media Workbench registered it and could trigger analysis or format conversion.
Metadata
Back-office tools defined complex metadata structures. The browser interface displayed controlled values through checkboxes, list boxes and radio buttons, simplifying data entry and search.
The release documents an early web-based media-asset-management workflow for distributed teams.
