Media 100 announced the 844/Xi, a lower-cost member of its 844/X family aimed at dual-stream editors. It combined editing, real-time compositing and effects in 10-bit quality.
The GenesisEngine processed four streams simultaneously: two video streams and two full-motion alpha streams. Effects included transitions, filters, colour correction, warping, and chroma, luma and alpha keying.
Intelligent Layering Architecture supported projects with unlimited layers, with as many as four processed recursively in real time. The system used the same hardware platform as the eight-stream 844/Xe and could be upgraded.
Version 1.5 added OMF compatibility with Avid systems and Pro Tools, Final Cut Pro integration, timeline export to After Effects, Photoshop-layer support and EDL export. The system belongs to the video-editing and compositing archives.
