Sony Pictures Imageworks deployed NXN Alienbrain VFX across its Los Angeles studio to manage digital-character, visual-effects and animated-film production. Planned projects included Spider-Man 2 and The Polar Express.
The system organised 3D models, motion-capture data, rendered clips and digitised live-action footage. It tracked dependencies between scenes, models and textures, managed large image sequences and improved file versioning and archiving.
Alienbrain VFX also supported existing studio processes, including review and approval during daily screenings. Unlike systems focused mainly on archiving completed files, it managed assets throughout production from creation to final delivery.
NXN developed the product for large animated features and visual-effects projects running across heterogeneous hardware. Imageworks used it as both an asset-management and production-management layer.
