The animago 2003 competition introduced a dedicated Game Design category for the first time. The award focused on the graphical quality of PC and console games, including character work, environments, trailers, cinematics and in-game presentation, while gameplay and story were outside the jury’s remit. The new category reflected the growing importance of game development for 3D artists and digital-content creators.
