Rockford Public Schools deployed a district-wide video-on-demand system using products from SAFARI Technologies and Optibase. The system streamed educational programmes to individual classrooms across 12 schools.
Located near Grand Rapids, Michigan, the district served approximately 8,500 students and staff. It wanted a reliable, flexible and easy-to-use VOD platform with rapid response times. Each school retained its own VCR and DVD sources and used SAFARI Source Controllers for remote LAN control.
For real-time MPEG streaming from analogue sources, SAFARI used the Optibase MGW 2000 TV-over-IP platform. The customised architecture allowed every school to access, control and view analogue video media located at any of the other schools.
