AIST licensed its high-end MPEG technology to G DATA Software AG. High-quality MPEG output was central to several G DATA applications, and AIST said its codecs improved both processing speed and output quality.
G DATA DaViDeo onDVD and DaViDeo VideoStudio already incorporated the new AIST MPEG codecs. G DATA executive Kai Figge said the implementation was intended to deliver faster results and maintain high output quality. Development head Dr Dirk Hochstrate claimed that visible degradation at reduced MPEG bitrates was less apparent with the codecs. These were vendor claims from 2003, not independent test results.
