Avid offered a time-limited price on new Symphony systems. Customers ordering a Mac or Windows configuration by 28 March 2003 could buy the finishing system for €80,800 plus VAT, including an FC Array with six 73 GB drives. The price required a paid Avid Assurance maintenance contract.
The promotion also applied to the ABVB end-of-life upgrade programme, which ran until 31 March 2003. Owners could trade in an older Media Composer ABVB system toward Symphony and receive the introductory price, although storage was excluded.
The Avid Media Composer 9000 XL also received a discount of more than 20 percent on Mac and PC through 28 March. With an additional paid Assurance contract, a new system cost €59,500.
New features across Symphony for Mac and Windows and Media Composer included real-time colour correction and 23.976 fps project support.
