Blue Space and NOB Studios Hürth jointly opened what they described as Germany’s largest private virtual studio. The facility used ORAD Hi-Tec Systems technology, including Xpecto infrared camera tracking and DVG image generation, alongside the Blue Space ORCA system powered by Shark 3D.

The technology had been used since 2001 for daily live game shows, magazines and talk programmes at the KI.KA Blue Space studio in Erfurt. It supported interactive television and allowed numerous visual effects to be applied during live production.

The 290 m² stage contained a permanent 120 m² blue cyclorama expandable to 150 m², plus a smaller permanent green cyclorama. Base lighting remained installed for short-notice operation. Vehicle access and the large floor area also supported automotive advertising.

NOB Studios Hürth operated eight stages ranging from 290 to 1,400 m². Its services included studios and offices, technical production, outside broadcasts, video and audio post-production, tape checking, playout, consulting, equipment rental and set construction.
