JPEG 2000 used wavelet compression to reduce image data while targeting better quality than conventional JPEG at comparable sizes. Native JPEG 2000 support was available in Adobe Photoshop only from version 7.01.
AlgoVision LuraTech offered the LuraWave.jp2 plugin for Photoshop 4.0 and later, adding JPEG 2000 import and export to older installations. The plugin cost €29.99 as a download.
