NMX is based on a coordinated service structure rather than separate services for individual elements of the hardware infrastructure. Its graphical interface lets operators assemble video and audio services for digital transport. The system then configures and manages equipment for encoding, multiplexing, digital conversion and delivery. Harmonic says the approach can improve operating efficiency, optimise bandwidth, and maintain service quality and availability.
Built on open networking and management standards, NMX supports both remote control of centralised systems and central control of geographically distributed systems. Standards-based XML interfaces can connect third-party subsystems for conditional access, scheduling and automation. Multi-level security functions and audit procedures control access and are designed to preserve system integrity. Pricing starts below $20,000.
