Blackmagic Design released a public beta of DeckLink 4.0 for its uncompressed QuickTime capture cards, adding support for Final Cut Pro 4.
RT Extreme and eight-channel audio
The update enabled RT Extreme effects across the DeckLink range. Final Cut Pro 4’s multichannel audio output was also supported, with as many as eight audio channels embedded in the SDI video signal for broadcast decks.
Desktop and compositing output
DeckLink provided an independent desktop output for non-QuickTime applications including Adobe Photoshop. The driver also supported 16-bit RGB rendering in After Effects, plus quick capture and real-time RAM previews in Discreet Combustion.
DeckLink 4.0 was offered as a free customer download. Current host, operating-system and hardware compatibility should be tested before production use.
