Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen continues to expand its existing Avid installation. A new Avid AirSpace video server serves as a gateway between a linear editing room and the postproduction Unity Media Network used at 3sat to improve the workflow.
For ZDF’s digital bouquet with the channels ZDF Infokanal, ZDF TheaterKanal and ZDF DokuKanal, playout capacity is increased by another Avid AirSpace server. With the ParallelSpace software option for the third Avid AirSpace server, the broadcaster mirrors all broadcast segments of ZDF Infokanal.
ZDF also ordered the first Avid NewsCutter Adrenaline FX, which was only recently presented at NAB in April 2003. NewsCutter Adrenaline FX, based on the new DNA (Digital Nonlinear Accelerator) architecture, supports, among other things, the Stereo Voice Over and Punch In function, which ZDF urgently needed for dubbing direction.
